About UWBS
Located in the cozy north woods of Wisconsin, UWBS first started out as a small trade school back in the late 1970’s and has since broadened its academic base to become an accredited, world-leader in liberal arts basket-weaving.
Learn more about what UWBS has to offer for your future! The History of UWBS
1979Ben Hansen, a world-famous basket-weaver, breaks ground on what would one
day become the sprawling campus of UWBS.
1983The first graduates of UWBS earn their bachelors in basket-weaving.
1985A minor in CIS was proposed, but is ultimately rejected by the UWBS Board
of Regents.
1988The average starting wage of UWBS grads tops $25,000 for the first time.
1992The UWBS Alumni Association is formed by a group of extremely bored
graduate students.

1999UWBS achieves accredited status.
2000A minor in CIS was proposed, but is ultimately rejected by the UWBS Board
of Regents.
2001After diving into the basket-weaving pool, a student drowns due to
careless valve-checking procedures. An investigation later clears UWBS of any
negligence in its oxygen tank maintenance program. A scholarship fund is
established in honor of the deceased, as well as a memorial bench outside the
newly-constructed student center.
2002A minor in CIS was proposed, but is ultimately rejected by the UWBS Board
of Regents.
2003The 20-year reunion of the UWBS class of 1983 kicks off with a mad
frenzy of malformed baskets and the needless burning of several bushels of industrial-grade
bamboo. Some of the more peculiar-looking creations go on to be considered masterpieces of modern art.
2004Due to safety concerns, the underwater basket-weaving pool is
permanently drained. An IT minor was proposed, but is ultimately rejected by
the UWBS Board of Regents.
2005The average starting wage for a UWBS graduate tops $35,000 for the first
time. The mayor awards Chancellor Hansen a key to the city for excellent
leadership and for stimulating the local economy.
2006UWBS offers its new
"cutting-edge" feline taxidermy program. Focus of study includes multiple techniques
for the skinning of both large and small felines, as well as a multicultural
emphasis on prehistoric methods of saber-tooth taxidermy.
2007The number of stray cats in the area surrounding UWBS plummets to an
all-time low, threatening the future of the cat-skinning curriculum and causing
the city animal shelter to close. Due to the loss of jobs at the now-defunct
animal shelter, the mayor decides to take back the key to the city and calls for
a boycott of UWBS.
2008The underwater basket-weaving pool is re-filled due to overwhelming
demand in the program. A chemistry minor is proposed by a new member of the faculty and is added to the University Catalog for the Spring 2009 semester. An IT minor was proposed, but was ultimately rejected
by the UWBS Board of Regents.
